SP4 Edward Gero died of
pneumonia on February 22, 1968 at the 106th General Hospital in Japan,
where he had been receiving treatment for burns over 60% of his
body. The incident that caused the burns occurred on February
16, 1968 in the Republic of Vietnam. SP4 Gero was refueling a
truck, when the fuel exploded. The incident was not the result
of hostile action.

Gero was assigned to Company C, 2nd Battalion, 34th Armor, 25th
Infantry Division.
